10 Things You Should Not Miss in Boracay

Summer is finally coming!  With the temperature rising, the beach always comes first in my mind.  And with the beach in mind, BORACAY is the coolest summer vacation one has to try.

I have been in this beautiful island for so many times already, yet, I am still considering this place to spend a summer getaway every year.

Seasons on this island are classified into three :
                         LOW SEASON : June 1 - November 30
                         HIGH SEASON : December 1 - May 31
PEAK SEASON : December 21 - January 10, Chinese New Year, Holy Week

Each season has its good and not-so-good points, yet, irrespective of the seasons, Boracay has so many thing to offer to its tourists.

Here's my list of 10 THINGS YOU SHOULD NOT MISS IN BORACAY :

1.  Willy's Rock
The most photographed landmark located at the Station 1 of Boracay, got its name from a nearby Willy's Beach Club Hotel.  Usually crowded with all the people wanted to have a photo on the rock or on top with the statute of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Why you should not miss having a photograph with or on the rock?  It's like going to Paris without having a picture with the Eiffel Tower or going to HongKong without visiting their Disneyland.

2.  Artistically Made Sand Castles (including the white sand)

Work of art at night ime...
Boracay is famous for its white sand and locals who have God-given talents use this sand to build a magnificent sand castle.  These sand castles can be found along the beach front in different sizes, designs and lengths.  As night sets in, gas lamps are used to add attraction and enchantment to the sand castles.  Sand castles are used as a background of every tourist's photo-op.  There is no fee for this but a few peso for a donation would make the local artists happy.

3.  Henna Tattoo & Hair Braid
Artists on tattooing and braiding can be found anywhere in Boracay.  For a henna tattoo, price ranges from 150 - 500 depending on the size and complexity of the design.  The artists have portfolio of designs that you can chose from or you can instruct them of your own design.

For the hair braid, price varies from 50 - 250 depending on the length of your hair to be braid.  Try to canvass first and don't be shy to haggle.  Prices are still negotiable especially if you are two or more.

4.  Activities (Sports and Other Fun Activities)
Of course, a Boracay vacation would not  be complete without trying one, if not all, of their water / sport activities.  There are several manongs roaming around the beach front area offering for various activities, don't forget to canvass and haggle.  There are island hoppings, helmet diving, ATV / buggy car rides, banana ride, kite surfing, Zorb ride etc.

We had our buggy rental for 500 for the entire ride. We were guided by a representative from the company we rented our rides and toured us to various spots of Boracay.  I have to narrate all these spots we visited on my other blog.  I let my husband do the driving since I honestly admitted that I am such a very lame driver.  The ride was so much fun.

5.  D' Mall
You want another pair of swimsuit? Or maybe a cup of coffee or souvenir shirts as pasalubong for mom and dad?  Then, head to D' Mall, Boracay's main shopping area right off the beach.   D' Mall is a one-stop shop where you can even find a dentist's clinic, optical shop and ATMs there.  You can also have so many activities in D' Mall.

You can stroll, shop, dine, get a massage, have a tattoo, braid your hair, ride a Ferris wheel, do wall climbing, book or re-book a flight.  Your Boracay vacation would definitely be incomplete without a visit to D' Mall.

6.  Foods
Varying from fine dining to eat-all-you-can and street foods, Boracay has it.

My husband and I enjoyed a sumptuous seafood buffet on our last night during our last stay there.

7.  Non-stop Party (with Fire Dancers around)
Boracay is known as the summer party capital of the Philippines.   Particularly during high and peak seasons, the entire beach front of Stations 1 and 2 are so crowded with partying people during night time ignoring who you stumbled with or maybe it could be a celebrity.  Just don't forget to party safely!

8.  Sunsets
Sit down by the chairs or wooden beds lined along the beach front.  Or just simply sit down on the white sand of Boracay and watch as the sun sets.

Or maybe better if you could have a picture taken while the sun is setting, just like I did!

9.  Stroll on the white sandy beach
Famous for its white powdery sand, walking barefooted along the beach front of Boracay is enjoyable especially if done during early mornings.

Or just simply lie down and enjoy its white sand.

10.  Boracay Shirts... or Souvenirs
Traveling should be accompanied by a souvenir or a pasalubong.  In our case, we have our Boracay sandos and shirts.  While enjoying the tour in this island, why not wear one of their Boracay shirts.  Just like my husband did!

Have a Boracay vacation and enjoy the sea, sand, sun and food!   Don't forget to share with us your fun beach experience there.   HAVE FUN!
